Charles Asch received his master’s degree in Classical Cello from Juilliard in 2011, and completed his Doctorate of Musical Arts at University of Minnesota in the spring of 2017. He performs throughout the Twin Cities, including solo cello recitals, chamber music recitals, and performances with local orchestras. Dr. Asch has served as music faculty at University of Minnesota-Morris, University of Wisconsin-River Falls, and at MacPhail Center for Music. He has performed with Lyra Baroque Orchestra and MN Opera.
Along with performance, Dr. Asch’s expertise is in beginning cellists, to help establish their proper form and playing style. His teaching method is informed by his studies with nationally known cello teachers, including Tanya Remenikova at UMN, Richard Aaron at Juilliard and Hans Jorgen Jensen at Northwestern University. He has taught privately in the Twin Cities for over 10 years.
